Cooking chez CV - Apple Crumble

Apple Crumble… yummm… We tried our hands at making Apple Crumble last weekend after having been told by my sister that it was easy to make. At first I didn’t believe her but now that we’ve tried it… it’s actually pretty simple. Of course hers still taste better especially for the dough part as ours was a little too “hard”.  Too much butter and not enough flour we were told but then again… who could have blamed us especially since we did not have a food weighing scale to work with. We have to estimate the quantity & weights based on self made markings on the side of the sugar & flour packets. Oh ya… the oven now officially has been tested and it works!

For those of you who would like to try a hand at it, here are the instructions which we followed:

Ingredients
6-8 Green Apples
250 white sugar
200g white flour
150g Butter
1 Clove or Cinamon Stick

Instructions

  1. Peel the apple and core them and dice them into chunks
  2. Put them into a pan. Add sugar, clove and cinamon stick and put on the lid.
  3. Stew the apples for approx. 30 mins stirring occasionally.
  4. Check that the apples are cooked and soft by mashing it a little. Apples should be soft but not  a puree.
  5. Put apples into serving dish and allow to cool
  6. Make the crumble toping. Slice up the 150g of Butter. Mix the white flour, remaining sugar and butter into a bowl. Mix with hand until it becomes breadcrumb consistency. Preheat oven to 150 C / 300 F / Gas Mark 2
  7. Cover the apples with the toping without pressing it down
  8. Put in oven for approximately 30 mins (until crumble is browned)

Cool Mobile Shell Skin - Omnia

Just found this website after having surfed around quite a bit to make my Omnia look like a HTC Touch. If you have SPB Mobile Shell installed on your phone, you can make use of this collection by “Stu Nicholls” located at his site at http://www.imarche.net/omnia/ . Once you have installed the plugin, you will no longer need to overwrite files just to change the look & feel of your Mobile Shell on your phone. Not only does this program work for the Omnia, it basically works for all Windows Mobile phones (probably WM5, WM6 & above).

Not only can you make your Omnia look like a HTC phone, you can also make it look like an iPhone. That should give curious onlookers a puzzled look when they see your phone and its interface.

I like the way this program works. Basically you can change your skin, theme, buttons  & overall look of your phone just by selecting easy options without having to soft reset your phone. Great for people who gets bored of their phone’s look. You can practically change the look & feel every single day if you wanted to. Have fun with this one!

WordBook & Wordpress one again!

Am glad to inform you all that I have upgraded my WordBook Plugin to Version 0.14.2 (just now)… Hopefully the program has managed to fix all recent errors I have been experiencing caused by the new layout and internals of the new Facebook interface. Hopefully all future blogs are updated according to my Facebook Profile for everyone’s easy reference…

Testing 1, 2, 3…. YAY It works!

Samsung Omnia i900 - ROM Download & Upgrade

It’s almost been 4 days since I’ve installed the new ROM which I stumbled upon Samsung’s Site. The first impression I got was a smoother running interface and secondly an improved battery life! The Keyboard selector does not hang like per before. Then again, the sluggishness could have been due to the fact that I might have overloaded my Omnia previously with all sorts of program which I wanted to test out. For this new ROM, I only installed back what I use as per what is stated at http://www.ourplaypen.com/2008/10/13/samsung-omnia-i900/

The battery level improved drastically especially under normal usage levels. I use the phone to receive and make business calls so you can expect pretty “heavy” usage. The battery level you would be surprise is still remaining at 100% and it’s already 6:47pm granted that its been pretty quiet over the last hour or two ;) Normally under the same circumstances, I would have had to re-charge the phone already. But having said that… if the phone is used for heavy GPS or GPRS usage as well as games, the battery level does come down… then again.. shouldn’t it ? Everything uses power esp transmissions. Using the Internet Sharing to surf via 3G+ shouldn’t be a concern as the USB cable will charge the phone at the same time. Using WMWiiRouter as a wireless hotspot is a different case because both the WIFI and GPRS is running concurrently. All in all, I’m happy with the battery level for this new ROM and I would recommend it to those of you who are complaining of short battery durations.

You may download your own ROM from http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/index.jsp. Upgrade your phone today if you haven’t done so already. You’ll notice a marked improvement in the performance of your phone.
